PINE BLUFF, Ark. — An investigation is underway after police responded to a shooting overnight at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
An official with the UAPB Police Department confirmed that two people were shot and one was a student.
This comes as homecoming festivities get underway, but officials do not believe it is connected to any of these events.
University police stated that a campus-wide lockdown was lifted overnight.
Following the incident, the Pine Bluff Police Department released the following statement online:
"The Pine Bluff Police Department is actively working to ensure a safe environment for everyone attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Homecoming. In response to last night’s incident, we have coordinated with UAPB Campus Police and other supporting agencies to increase security and provide additional resources."
At this time, it is unknown whether anyone has been arrested.
