Investigation underway after suspect shot by North Little Rock officer

The North Little Rock Police Department is investigating an incident where an officer shot at a suspect on Saturday night.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The North Little Rock Police Department is investigating an incident that happened on Saturday night where an officer discharged his weapon and struck a suspect. 

According to reports, just before midnight, officers were called to the Jefferson Manor Apartments in the 2600 block of John Ashley Drive with reports of "suspicious persons" who had guns.

When they arrived, the officers were able to speak with some people in the group, and during their interaction, there was at least one gunshot fired by an NLRPD officer.

One person was shot and sustained a non-life-threatening injury as a result of the officer firing their gun. The suspect has since been taken to the hospital for treatment.

No officers were injured during the incident and the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave per policy.
