It's back-to-school season here in Arkansas, and to help students prepare for the the first day, Seis Puentes Hispanic Outreach Center has announced that they will once again be hosting their annual back-to-school event.
The event will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Ridge Road Elementary School located at 4601 Ridge Road in North Little Rock.
It is a free event that is open to the public.
Free backpacks will be handed out in a drive-through style with a limit of three bags per car. They are also offering free back-to-school haircuts inside the school, a bilingual family resource fair, and free pizza and drinks.
“I am so grateful that our students and community can participate in the Seis Puentes backpack drive. Teachers know how hard things can get for our families and their budgets when trying to get ready for the school year, especially families with multiple kiddos. I know students love school supplies just as much as we teachers do and this is a wonderful example of how Seis Puentes is here to help," said Lisa Harrison, NLRSD teacher and ESL specialist.
In 2023, Seis Puentes was able to give away 600+ backpacks and 75+ free haircuts and they plan to expand their delivery this year.
