NORFORK, Ark. (KTHV) – The Baxter County Sheriff's Office recently responded to a shooting where a man had apparently shot his own brother in the face.

According to Baxter County John Montgomery, the shooting happened Friday around 8:33 p.m. He said that the brother shot was flown from his home by Air-Evac Ambulance Service to UAMS in Little Rock with injuries to his face and torso; 54-year-old Charles Ray Dickerson was arrested at the scene.

According to police reports, the now injured brother took Dickerson to his home and was promptly told to leave or he would be shot. Reports further stated that Dickerson then fired at his brother from the front door (a distance of between 40 and 50 feet) with a 12-gauge shotgun.

Montgomery told THV 11 News that the truck door frame was damaged and glass was shattered, indicating that Dickerson's brother was still inside the truck when he was shot. The victim managed to drive home, where his wife called 911 for help.

Dickerson is currently charged with felon in possession of a firearm in commission of a crime and first degree battery. At the time of this report, he was being held in lieu of $50,000 bond at the Baxter County Detention Center pending his appearance in court on July 11 at 9 a.m.
