One dead after car drives off overlook near dam at Greers Ferry Lake

The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a vehicle accident that happened near the dam at Greers Ferry Lake.

GREERS FERRY, Arkansas — The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a vehicle accident that happened near the dam at Greers Ferry Lake on Sunday.

According to reports, the accident happened near the JFK Park Overlook near the dam along Highway 25.

Officials say a vehicle went through a fence at the outlook and ended up near the bottom of the dam on the riverside.

The driver was identified as 30-year-old Ismael Ponce of Clarksville. He was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger, a 28-year-old female, was airlifted to Little Rock where she is recovering.

Investigators have still not revealed the cause of the crash.
