SHERWOOD, Ark. — The City of Sherwood Parks and Recreation Department has now announced the opening date for the 2023 Enchanted Forest Trail of Lights for this holiday season.
A lighting ceremony featuring local musicians, as well as hot chocolate with Santa Claus and Mayor Mary Jo Heye-Townsell is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 1. The trail will then officially open at 6:00 p.m. that evening.
The trail will be open daily to guests from December 1 until December 30 during the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The display of lights will be just as beautiful and bright as every year, but some new changes will now be in place. While general admission to the trail is still free, guests will now be required to make a reservation prior to their visit.
The new reservation system is completely free and was put in place to prevent guests from being turned away because of the trail being over capacity. It will also allow Sherwood police to better manage the flow of traffic in and out of the trail.
Guests who are interested will have the opportunity to buy a $25 ticket (per car) for their vehicle to bypass the general admission line. However, the passes will be limited to just 15 cars per 30-minute reservation window.
Both general admission reservations and fast pass reservations will open up to the public on November 13.
There will also be a collection for donations of cash and non-perishable food items that will be accepted at the beginning of the trail. Any donations collected, as well as the funds paid for the fast passes, will be used to create new displays and upgrades for next year's display.
