Investigation underway after shooting incident leaves three dead in Jefferson County

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is now investigating a shooting incident where three people were left dead on Saturday.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) is now investigating a shooting incident where three people died on Saturday.

According to reports, a JCSO deputy was dispatched to a home on Lakeview Drive in Jefferson County after a call of an unresponsive woman and juvenile female who allegedly had blood on the upper part of their body. The caller told authorities that she was inside the home and had seen the unresponsive people. She also explained that there was another person inside the home.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team was then activated and they were assisted by several officers from Arkansas State Police, the Pine Bluff Police Department, and the White Hall Police Department.

The law enforcement officers were able to speak to the person inside the home and attempted to have him go outside, though that proved to be unsuccessful. After a while officers heard what sounded like gunshots being fired inside the home and during that time phone contact was lost.

The Special Response Team then made their way into the home where they found a white male in the living room who was deceased from an "apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound" and had a handgun located on his person.

They also found a woman in a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound and a juvenile female in another room also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

All individuals were taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy and to determine the cause of death.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing and we will update with more information as soon as it becomes available.
