MONETTE, Ark. — A deadly shooting involving an off-duty police officer took place Sunday night in Monette, according to investigators.

Chief Deputy of Craighead County Sheriff's Office Justin Roland said that at about 11:30 p.m. police received calls about a domestic disturbance on County Road 506. When Monette Police arrived, they found a man outside of the residence with gunshot wounds, according to Roland.

This man died at this scene, according to Roland, who confirmed that the man believed to have fired the gunshots that inflicted the wounds is Brett Williams, an officer with the Trumann Police Department.

Williams is still employed as of press time, but is on administrative leave pending a professional standards review.

This review is said to be planned to be completed after the Craighead County Sheriff Office's criminal investigation division completes an investigation of their own.
