NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Monday, April 8, Shorter College announced the death of President Dr. O. Jerome Green who passed away at the age of 69 years old.
Green has served as the 45th president of Shorter College since he was appointed in 2012. Previously, he served at Miles College and the Arkansas Ethics Commission.
Under his administration, there was a record-breaking number of enrollment and graduates, new academic programs, and the establishment of the STEM Center for Academic Excellence.
"President Green's passing is a tremendous loss, not only to Shorter College but to the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the HBCU community. He was a great leader who cared deeply about students, faculty, and staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family," said Shorter College Provost and Vice President for Administration Jeffery Norfleet.
Dr. Green earned his Juris Doctor at the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Master of Arts in Journalism at the Ohio State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature at Miles College.
