BEEBE, Ark. — (Eds. note: The attached video was published on September 12, 2023, when Shorty Small's opened its food truck.)
Shorty Small's, the beloved Little Rock restaurant that has served people for over 40 years, has found a new home in Beebe.
On Monday, the Beebe City Council voted 5-0 to approve several ordinances for the restaurant to open its doors at a location off North Main Street.
No opening date has been announced.
Shorty Small's closed its doors at the corner of Little Rock's Rodney Parham and Shackleford in December 2021 for several reasons, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two years after shutting down, the restaurant returned as a food truck, serving only its iconic cheese sticks.
During the city council meeting, a representative of Shorty Small's said its brick-and-mortar location in Beebe will be open for lunch every day, but the menu "won't be as large" as the previous one in Little Rock.
Shorty Small's in Beebe will also serve brunch and a diverse alcohol selection.
Beebe City Council members said they hope adding Shorty Small's will revitalize the city's downtown area and boost the economy.
