LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — BCW (Bread Cheese Wine) is one of the newest restaurants in Little Rock’s booming SoMa community. It’s an elevated, but not pretentious, experience that’s headed by a local chef with a long pedigree in some of Little Rock’s most popular eateries.
“We would not have done this restaurant anywhere but in SoMa,” explained chef and owner, Nathan Miller. “Grilled cheese, it’s the ultimate comfort food but the way we do it is a bit more refined, a playful twist on the classics.”
The top-selling sandwich at BCW is the duck pastrami grilled cheese. Miller and his team put a lot of effort into this single dish. The duck breast is cured for three days and then smoked for three hours before ever being plated.
It’s a very involved, intricate process that results in a dish you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.
In addition to a large menu of “not your momma’s” grilled cheese sandwiches, you’ll find a selection of over 60 wines, eight of which are on tap. Miller prides himself on curating a very diverse wine menu.
“[There's] a good balance of old-world and new-world-wines. We wanted to make sure we had a selection of approachable wines but also a selection for the aspiring sommeliers to try something they can’t find anywhere else," he explained.
For the cold, dreary winter days you’ll find a wonderful soup menu that’s sure to warm you. The French onion soup is delectable, and you simply won’t go wrong with the tomato soup. Of course, both pair perfectly with any of their grilled cheese sandwiches.
Miller has 25 years of experience in the culinary arts industry. He attended the New England Culinary Institute and has worked in notable Little Rock eateries such as YaYas Euro Bistro and Brave New.
