LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Downtown Little Rock Partnership announced on Friday that they have selected their winning mural design for its Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Art Initiative.
The winning design was done by Posse Paper Goods and is entitled "SoMA Superbloom." The mural will be found at the crosswalk located at the intersection of 13th Street and Main Street in downtown Little Rock.
According to the Downtown Little Rock Partnership, the installation of SoMA Superbloom is planned to take place on June 15 and June 16th. The group posted an online sign-up sheet for those in the community who would like to help with the installation.
Volunteers will be asked to help paint the street on June 15 and June 16. Alongside painting, volunteers will also be asked to help keep onlookers at a safe distance off of the mural, help the artist with miscellaneous tasks, and wash the street, brushes, and rollers.
Here's a look at the time blocks available on each day:
Saturday, June 15:
- 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
- 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Sunday, June 16:
- 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
- 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
- 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
- 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
For those planning on helping paint the large scale mural in SoMa that weekend, the Downtown Little Rock Partnership said that they'll be providing water and sodas to volunteers.
The group also wants to remind potential volunteers to wear clothing that can get permanent paint on them and will help keep you cool as it's likely to be hot that weekend.
Volunteers are asked to arrive at the corner of 13th Street and Main Street 15 minutes prior to their shift.
