LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Thursday, Summit Utilities announced that they have partnered with Central Arkansas Master Naturalists (CAMN) on a tree replacement project where their goal is to revitalize the greenery that was damaged in Pulaski County after the tornado in March 2023.
CAMN is providing locally grown, native trees to residents in the area who lost their trees during the severe storms. Volunteers from both CAMN and Summit Utilities have been hard at work to grow the trees and plan to plant the trees later this year.
"Following the tornado that impacted Central Arkansas, our crews worked tirelessly shutting off damaged gas lines to ensure safety during the recovery effort," said Vernon McNully, Summit’s Senior Director of Operations. "Nearly a year later, our team members are volunteering their time helping the same community by growing and planting trees for residents impacted by the devastation. Our commitment to the communities we serve extends beyond our core operations because our future depends on healthy, vibrant, deep-rooted communities."
CAMN Chapter President, David Holcomb explained how the tree project works to replace trees that are native to the area which helps ensure that they will survive in the areas where they are planted.
"CAMN is grateful to Summit Utilities for partnering with us in the Tree Replacement Project," he added.
