BAXTER COUNTY, Ark. — The Baxter County Sheriff's Department arrested a Salesville man on November 25 after he led deputies on a high-speed chase on a motorcycle around 2 a.m.
Deputy Conner Stanton was informed that 28-year-old Justice Jacob Vasquez was preparing to leave an address on Highway 5 South on his motorcycle with a suspended license.
After locating the vehicle, officials confirmed by reading the license plate that the registered owner did not possess a motorcycle endorsement.
The driver continued on the bypass to West Hwy 62 B, then drove back into town going East on Hwy 62 B. At this time, Deputy Stanton attempted to initiate a stop on the motorcycle.
The suspect accelerated away at a high speed through various roadways in Mountain Home before traveling back towards the U. S. Hwy 62/412 bypass. He continued east toward Lake Norfork and later wrecked the motorcycle on Cranfield Road.
The suspect attempted to flee on foot, and a brief pursuit ensued. Both Deputy Stanton and the suspect reportedly fell down during the foot chase in the dark, but Deputy Stanton eventually caught the suspect, tackled him, and took him into custody.
Vasquez was charged with fleeing by vehicle, fleeing by foot, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, violation of restricted driver's license, resisting arrest, driving while license suspended, and violation of probation.
He remains in custody with a $15,000 bond and will appear before the Circuit Court on December 4.
Deputy Stanton required a hospital visit to treat minor injuries sustained during the foot chase.
