LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — One word can be used to adequately describe the growth of The Bagel Shop: rapid. What started out as a hobby only months ago rapidly blossomed into a thriving culinary experience that Central Arkansas has come to love.
In this week’s Eat It Up we set out to learn the secret recipe for such a popular eatery— and it turns out the answer isn’t that complex, rather, just the opposite.
Trevor and Myles, co-owners of The Bagel Shop, credit their simplicity and respect for the classic bagel for their quick rise to popularity.
The couple began making bagels for friends and family out of their apartment in the spring of 2022. Quickly, word spread, and demand for their authentic New York-style bagels surged.
They began selling their culinary creations at pop-up shops at local farmer's markets around the area. People would line up around city blocks in hopes of getting a taste of these bagels.
The feedback from customers, friends, and family was enough to encourage the two to think bigger. A brick-and-mortar was the logical next step.
They chose to stay in the SoMa community, mere steps from Bernice Garden, the home of the farmers market that helped launch their business.
Now housed in a historic building, the bright and welcoming space allows the two to serve not just bagels but other special bakery items. Cosmic brownies, oatmeal cream pies, and one of the best quiches you’ll ever taste to name a few. Onyx, an Arkansas-based coffee roaster, is also served.
The Bagel Shop is much more than a breakfast spot. Their menu of lunch bagels is savory and loaded with carefully curated meats and sauces are sure to give you plenty of options.
The Bagel Shop is located in Little Rock’s historic SoMa community at 1501 South Main Street, Suite J, in Little Rock. They are open Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
They offer dine-in, takeout, and online ordering options.
