From tragedy to triumph | The Purple Cow on Cantrell reopens

Twenty months after The Purple Cow on Cantrell in Little Rock was nearly destroyed by the March 2023 tornado, it's finally reopened and better than ever.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Booths are officially back at a favorite spot on Cantrell Road! This week, Eat it Up returns to midtown Little Rock for the reopening of The Purple Cow, 20 months after the March 2023 tornado nearly destroyed the building.

They are back and better than ever, with a new brunch menu that has folks knocking on the door ready to return.

"We are ecstatic to be back; we have missed everyone in the neighborhood," said Director of Operations Leslie Cotton.

The original building was over 50 years old when the tornado struck Little Rock, causing ample damage. There was even a chance the restaurant may not return to this location.

"We thought maybe we should move or get a bigger space, but when we came down to it we knew this was home. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to be back here and we knew this is where we were supposed to be," Cotton said.

As for the menu, visitors can now enjoy brunch 7 days a week starting at 9 a.m. The Purple Cow is now offering omelets, brunch burgers, brunch sandwiches, and so much more.

However, if you're still wanting that classic menu they've always had, you can get that at any time. Their staples include the steak knife burgers and the southwest salad— plus remember now, it is soup season! And of course, the kids will always love the Purple Cow shakes!
