Little Rock Air Force Base hosting first air show in 5 years

Thunder Over the Rock is returning this month to the Little Rock Air Force Base for the first time since 2018.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark — 'Thunder Over the Rock' is returning to Little Rock for the first time since 2018, the Little Rock Air Force Base announced on Thursday.

The air show is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22, with both admission and parking for the air show being free for those who wish to attend.

As for this year's lineup, the Little Rock Air Force Base shared that the Air Force's premier demonstration team known as the 'Thunderbirds' will be headlining the show.

In terms of what to expect from the headlining act, the Thunderbirds are set to perform various formations, loops, rolls, inverted rolls, and sharp turns which display "pride, precision and professionalism the U.S. Air Force represents."

The Thunderbirds are slated to perform both Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Those in attendance can look forward to other events like the CAPEX joint display, along with performances from various groups like the U.S. Air Force F-35 Demonstration Team and the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team.

Additionally, attendees will be able to see a commemorative Air Force recreation of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, alongside a variety of historic and modern aircraft that will be on display.

Lastly, the show will feature an "entire hangar dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and innovation" — several of these displays and activities are interactive and can be enjoyed by attendees of all ages.

For those planning to attend, main gate for the show opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m.

VIP tickets are available to purchase from the 19th Force Support Squadron as well.
