'Thunder Over the Rock' takes off for first time in 5 years

The Little Rock Air Force Base gates opened bright and early Saturday morning for thousands to enjoy the first air show since 2018.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — All eyes were on the sky Saturday morning at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville for the Thunder Over the Rock air show.

“I love to watch the planes do the things that they do," Rob Walker said. "I can't imagine what kind of magic tricks those guys and those ladies are going to do."

The air show is drawing in people of all ages. Whether it's someone’s first time at an air show like Tory House, or not, like Jack Morris, people are just happy to be at the show together.

“We've been to several air shows," Morris said. "We just moved here. Not too long ago. We used to go there shows in Shreveport and we just love the air shows."

House said she's excited to see all it has to offer.

“It’s a new adventure,” House said. “It's great. I love it so much.

For Walker, being at the air show brings back fond memories.

“My grandson's dad was about 10 when we brought him out here and showed him this place and watched,” Walker said.

An air show hasn't been in Jacksonville in five years and people are excited to be here, especially those who served in the Air Force like Larry Pullon.

"I’m glad to be around the airplanes again," Pullon said. "It's been so long."

Pullon served in the Air Force and is excited to see the next generation of those serving our country.

“They have no idea how different the future holds the trip that they're going to make," Pullon said. "It's so exciting and I’m so happy that they're here doing this for us."

The air show continues on Sunday at 8 a.m. Central.
