LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Little Rock's newest attraction officially opened to the public Friday. Topgolf Little Rock has been talked about for years now, and after a brief ribbon-cutting, staff welcomed in customers for the first time.
"Just want to share our appreciation because we all worked together to get to this point," said Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. "It's hard to believe that, you know, it's here!"
It's a big moment for the city – this location will bring hundreds of jobs to Little Rock. One of those positions belongs to Matt Dunn, Director of Operations for the site.
For him, this is a personal moment.
"This is a big moment for me, to move here with my fiancé, to be a part of this community, to open this wonderful venue," Dunn said.
"I'm feeling great, I'm excited," he continued.
Dunn has been a part of Topgolf for nearly a decade now. To him, this is more than a job.
"I love it, I mean, this is what I get to do for a living, is be in this environment, and all I have to do is make sure that people come here for one thing, which is fun, and we make sure they have fun," he said. "So to see people having fun and enjoying it, like, it makes my heart warm."
Scott recognizes the fun this place brings – a huge plus, he said. But the nearly 300 jobs created are also top of mind.
"This is just yet another opportunity, so it's more than just entertainment," he said. "It's also the economics and the job placement that comes with it."
Of course, those coming here are looking for fun, and the range is the draw here. Topgolf is open starting at 9 or 10 a.m. most days, with special hours on holidays. You can find those hours here.
For Dunn, he just wants you to give this place a try.
"Some of us, as we grow up, we have bills. We have all these other things too," he said. "But you can come here, let loose, hit some golf balls. I don't care if you're a great golfer or not, you're gonna enjoy it, so just come and have fun."
