Train derailment reported in North Little Rock

The North Little Rock Fire Department confirmed that 14 train cars were derailed near Doyle Venable and MacArthur Drive.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark — The North Little Rock Fire Department confirmed that crews are working to clear the scene after several train cars derailed near West 13th Street.

Officials stated that 14 cars were derailed in total, most of which were holding grain, and the other four being empty tankers. At this time, there is no hazmat situation.

Police have been dispatched and are en route to the scene.

Union Pacific released the following statement:

"At about 7:45 a.m. CT, approximately 14 Union Pacific train cars derailed in North Little Rock, Arkansas. No one was injured and there were no releases. The incident occurred as the train was leaving Union Pacific's North Little Rock rail yard, near the intersection of W. 13th St. and N. Orange St. Cleanup is underway, as well as an investigation into the cause of the incident."
