Amal Clooney named most fascinating person of 2014

Barbara Walters released her list of "Most Fascinating People of 2014", and the person who took the top spot got the honor because of who she married.

Walters named Amal Clooney her most fascinating person of 2014 on Sunday night. The human rights lawyer, formerly known as Amal Alamuddin, married actor George Clooney in September.

Walters said her reason for choosing Amal was "you could say hers was the wedding of the year, but let's put it into perspective: It was really one of the greatest achievements in human history."

Many on Twitter agreed with Walter's choice. One twitter user said, "I'm delighted that Amal Clooney is at the top. This is a highly accomplished global attorney. Stellar feminism.

Others mocked the announcement. One twitter user posted "I've had cab drivers more fascinating than Amal Clooney."
