Tyson Foods announced a plan to eliminate hundreds of jobs between its headquarters location in Springdale and the corporate office in Chicago.
The company said this is a part of a restructuring program.
A representative for Tyson foods Gary Mickelson said the restructuring program will get rid of a variety of roles to keep the company in line with its competitors.
“We have an ongoing focus on financial fitness to make sure our business remains competitive,” Mickelson said.
“This means we’re continually reviewing our resources including staffing levels. It’s always difficult to eliminate and move jobs, and we’re doing this only after careful consideration.”
In July of 2018, the Associated Press reported that Tyson Foods cited higher tariffs and uncertainty about trade policies in cutting its profit forecast by nearly a dollar.
