LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Former Little Rock Police Chief Keith Humphrey has taken a new position and will now lead a new police department that isn't too far away.
On Monday, the University of Memphis announced that Humphrey will serve as their new police chief.
Humphrey previously served as the police chief here in Little Rock from 2019 until he announced his retirement in 2022.
During his time in Arkansas, his name was often in the headlines.
Former Chief Humphrey got the job as police chief just weeks after the fatal shooting of Bradley Blackshire in 2019 involving an LRPD officer.
At one point Humphrey made the unusual move of suing many of his commanding officers and the police union, accusing them of conspiring to force him out of his job. However, a judge later dismissed that case.
