US Marshals provide more details about 'armed and dangerous' Arkansas man

U.S. Marshals say the 31-year-old Arkansas man has been on the run for almost a year and is wanted on several felony charges in multiple cities.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Thursday, the U.S. Marshals provided more details about the "armed and dangerous" Arkansas man who's wanted on multiple felony charges in cities across central Arkansas.

Authorities said 31-year-old Darrell Lawayne Esau has been on the run for almost a year and urges anyone who knows where he is to turn him in.

Esau is described as 5'10" tall and about 160 pounds. He is wanted on several felony charges in Sherwood, Little Rock and Pulaski County.

"A lot of people are familiar with attempted murder and terms like that," U.S. Marshal Jeremy Hammons said. "Now it's charged as battery first."

Battery in the first degree means someone was shot and injured, and the incident could have resulted in a death.

According to Hammons, Esau is accused of multiple shootings across central Arkansas and has a criminal history that dates back to 2011 for illegally having guns.

"He is listed as extremely armed and dangerous because we don't know where those weapons are," Hammons said. "Someone with the propensity to violence like he's had is going to obtain another weapon even if that one's not in play anymore."

U.S. Marshals are searching for Darrell Esau on charges of terroristic act, aggravated residential burglary and possession of firearms.

Esau also has Pulaski County warrants for failing to appear with the Arkansas Parole Board.

The U.S. Marshals warn that anyone helping Esau evade police will be criminally charged.

"If they call us now and say, 'Hey, he was at my house two days ago. I don't want any trouble,' we can work with that person," Hammons said. "If we find out by the time we get to your house you've been involved, it's too late."

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Esau is asked to call the U.S. Marshals at (501) 324-6356. Callers can remain anonymous, and the information will be kept confidential.
