LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Communities all across central Arkansas have been preparing to honor those who have served in the country's military, both past and present, on Veterans Day.
Here are some Veterans Day events you can find across central Arkansas this weekend:
Little Rock
- Corvettes and Veterans: Saturday, November 11 at War Memorial Stadium from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event will include a car show, an official salute and ceremony with the presentation of colors, special performances of state-wide high school junior ROTC teams, historical military displays, and more.
- Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike: Saturday, November 18 at 600 E. Capitol Avenue from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online. This event is for veterans, active duty, National Guard, and reservists only.
- Second Friday Art Night at the Old Statehouse: Friday, November 10 at the Old Statehouse Museum from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Living history interpreters will be present to provide insight into military and civilian service while World War I-themed refreshments are served.
Roland
- Veterans Day Event & Book Signing: Saturday, November 11 at River Bottom Winery located at 13810 Combee Lane at noon. Duke Cunningham, author of Fox Two, as well as the man Top Gun was based on, will be bringing his books out for a signing with his wife, Sharon. The duo will share their story at 1 p.m., followed by live music at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Fort Smith
- 2023 Veterans Day Parade: Saturday, November 11 at 7313 Terry Street in the Chaffee Crossing Historic District at noon. The parade will feature floats, motorcycles, tractors, classic cars, walkers, cyclists, runners, and hundreds of area veterans.
- Fee Free Day: Saturday, November 11 at the Fort Smith National Historic Site located at 301 Parker Avenue from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Guests can visit for free!
Van Buren
- Van Buren Veterans Day Parade: Sunday, November 12 on historic downtown Main Street from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
