Here's what to know ahead of going to the Arkansas State Fair

The 84th Arkansas State Fair is now up and running in Little Rock. Here's what you need to know before you go.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The 84th Arkansas State Fair is now up and running which means that food, rides, and fun for the whole family is happening from now until October 20, 2024.

After seeing a record-breaking year of attendance last year, fair organizers have been making sure they keep the momentum going by offering new attractions and even more security.

"We want this to be a great environment for families," said Elicia Dover, a fair spokesperson.

This year, there are some new things to know before getting to the fairgrounds. Concerts will now be held inside the Barton Coliseum, and there will be new foods to try, like soul food egg rolls and even chicken on a stick,

However, there's still a youth curfew in place which states that anyone under 18 years old needs to be accompanied by an adult after 6:00 p.m.

"There was so much done to help increase safety and make people feel safe," Dover described.

Officers with LRPD, Arkansas State Police, and Pulaski County deputies will all be patrolling the fairgrounds. Along with officers on the ground, LRPD will also have their eyes on the sky with drones.

"We do have several that will be in the air. We have several operators. There will always be eyes on the fairgrounds," said LRPD Assistant Chief, Andre Dyer.

Police officials recommend that if you need help, you should let an officer know so they can assist you.

"Don't just wait to go to an officer because you need help. Say hello. We don't bite. We are here for you and we want to make sure you feel comfortable with coming up and speaking to us," said Dyer.

The fair opens daily at 11:00 a.m. through October 20.
