LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is reopening the Sue Cowan Williams Library in Little Rock with a trio of special events.
The library closed back in November of 2023 for extensive renovations, including the addition of a kitchen, maker space, podcasting room, teen center, and lofted employee space.
Now, they're excited to kick off the grand re-opening with a Family Dinner Night on Thursday, April 18, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Williams Library located at 1800 Chester St.
Tickets are $75 for adults, $15 for children ages 5-12, and free for children under five. All proceeds will support library programming, including the recurring free Family Dinner Nights.
Food and refreshments will be provided from local restaurants, and guests can also enjoy music and a first look at the renovated library.
On Friday, April 19, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the library from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with remarks from Mayor Frank Scott, Jr., and CALS Executive Director Nate Coulter.
Then, on Saturday, May 4, a free Neighborhood Block Party will be open to the public to enjoy. Guests can explore the new library space, listen to music, and enjoy food vendors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
