LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Thousands of Arkansans could see a lower natural gas bill this winter.
Summit Utilities said customers will see lower prices after last year's higher-than-normal bills.
The Public Service Commission approved 79 cents per hundred cubic feet.
So, a household that uses 100 CCF of gas would pay around $131. That's 30% lower than last year, which would have cost $173.
"We understand that there is inflation and whatnot, but we were able to lock our prices in much lower than what it was last winter, and that's something we are really excited about," Stephanie Sharp with Summit Utilities said
So, how does Summit reach these prices?
First, Summit's team tracks the commodity prices and predicts how much they will be for the season.
Then, they send those numbers to the Public Service Commission, which approves those rates.
Summit does this twice a year, on Nov. 1 and April 1.
