Police launch homicide investigation after woman and child found on I-440 in North Little Rock

North Little Rock police have now launched a homicide investigation after authorities found the bodies of a woman and a child near the I-440 on-ramp.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — North Little Rock police have now launched a homicide investigation after they found the bodies of a woman and a child near the I-440 on-ramp from Highway 165.

According to authorities, police have identified the deceased victims as 27-year-old Teangela Tate and her baby who was about two months old.

Their bodies were found on Tuesday at around 9:47 a.m. as police responded to the initial reports.

When police arrived on the scene, that's when they found the two bodies. Authorities said that they found a second child at the scene, who has also been identified as Tate's one-and-a-half-year-old child.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is said to be in critical condition.

A nearby business owner, Antar Singh, explained how seeing the scene and hearing about the two bodies being found was shocking.

"I came out twenty after eight. I didn't see," Singh said.

However, his security cameras might have caught something. Singh said he planned to show police his footage on Tuesday afternoon.

Despite what happened, he said he was not concerned for his safety.

"I'm safe in my place," Singh added.

Meanwhile, law enforcement plans to keep the community safe by getting to the bottom of this.

"Any crime whether there are adults who are involved or children involved understand. Children tend to pull at the heartstrings a lot more but any death and somebody losing a loved one is obviously a hard time. For anyone not just for the family but for the communities and those investigating the case," said Lt. Amy Cooper with the North Little Rock Police Department.

Police also said that the manner and cause of death are being withheld at the moment, as autopsies for both victims are still pending.

North Little Rock police urge anyone with information on the incident to contact them at (501) 680-8439 or (501) 771-7149.

We will update this article as more information becomes available.
