WOODRUFF COUNTY, Ark. — On September 11, a man from McCroy entered a no-contest plea and was found guilty of felony second-degree battery on a law enforcement officer in Woodruff County.

On November 7, 2023, the Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office requested Arkansas State Police (ASP) to investigate after an altercation occurred between 67-year-old Joseph Rudick and Sheriff Phil Reynolds in a beanfield near Three Forks Road in Woodruff County that evening.

According to reports, the pair had a physical altercation after the sheriff responded to put out a combine fire.

At this time, Sheriff Reynolds took Rudick into custody before contacting ASP for assistance.

Rudrick was arrested by ASP on November 8, 2023, and sentenced to three years of probation, plus the WCSO restitution of $3,000.
