An Arkansan could be the winner of second-largest Powerball jackpot in U.S. history

This could be a huge night for Arkansas Powerball players as the prize has grown to an estimated total of $1.73 billion dollars.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Powerball jackpot for the drawing on Wednesday night is estimated to be at $1.73 billion. Final ticket sales will determine whether the jackpot meets or exceeds this estimate later on tonight.

“This is a huge night for Arkansas Powerball players,” said Eric Hagler, Arkansas Scholarship Lottery executive director. “With every ticket purchased, the jackpot grows larger, and so are the funds being raised for Arkansas college students.”

Any winners of the jackpot can choose whether they want to receive their prize as an annuity paid in payments over the next 29 years, or if they want a lump sum payment which is estimated at $756.6 million.

This prize will be the second-largest Powerball jackpot and U.S. lottery jackpot behind the world record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot that was won in California in November  2022.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and can be purchased at any lottery retailer or on the Jackpocket app.
