1,000 show support outside funeral of Orlando victims

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando continued to show its love for the victims and their families of Sunday's mass shooting at Pulse nightclub.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando continued to show its love for the victims and their families of Sunday's mass shooting at Pulse nightclub.

Roughly 1,000 people turned out Saturday for the families of two victims who attended a funeral at St. Luke's Cathedral. Their message was clear.

"We're supporting our city," said Holly Hidalgo, a resident of Orlando.

"To support the family, try to give the family some peace and help them mourn in peace," said Charlene Cater, also of Orlando.

Some sang a number song, including "Amazing Grace" and "The Star-Spangled Banner;" and there were chants of "Orlando Strong!" and "Orlando United."

Signs told a story, too: "Look around. Love wins. Orlando Strong." "Love always wins." "Love does no harm, love is the law." "God is love." "Love is love." "One Pulse."

Some wore giant angel wings as they remembered the victims.

At one point, a procession of hundreds walked arm-in-arm silently through the rally.

A healthy police presence was also on hand to ensure the safety of those in attendance, including Orlando Police Chief John Mina.

Cater reflected on the last week and added that the proximity of the attack hit close to home.

"When you're someone else and seeing it someone's else's home, it's completely different," she said. "When it's in your own home it's a completely different story."
