David Hasselhoff does what it takes to hit the beaches of Baywatch.
Last week, Hasselhoff joined Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron on location in Georgia shooting scenes for the 2017 Baywatch movie reboot.
“They gave me an amazing amount of respect, and the producer kind of wooed me into being in it. And I'm glad I took it,” Hasselhoff says. “It worked out great. It was a real positive experience and we'll see in the end how the movie ends up. And we'll see where my part ends up, and we'll see if I'm even more involved.”
One thing that is evident from a photo that Johnson shared on Instagram of him and Hasselhoff barechested and in in their lifeguard shorts from the shoot: Hasselhoff is staying in shape.
What’s he doing to keep fit? “I'm hitting it hard. I'm working out. … With The Rock, I knew he was gonna be in shape, and Zac's in shape. … I was in the gym anyway. I work out all the time. I've never not been in shape but this was like 'OK, this is the real deal.' And I loved it. I said OK, bring on the challenge. Then, I looked at the pictures and my sports guy called me and he said, 'I told you. You’re gonna look good and you look good.' And I was going, yeah, not bad, man. Even The Rock was saying, 'You worked out.' I worked out like hell for this. I'm gonna keep it going because if you're gonna be a lifeguard, you gotta be in shape, right?”
Hasselhoff returns to American TV in the mockumentary comedy series Hoff the Record, which launches Thursday (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) on Mark Cuban’s AXS TV cable network. Yeah, Hasselhoff and Cuban, Dancing With the Stars alums, are bringing you this part-scripted, part-improv 6-episode show that first aired in the U.K. and was produced by the folks behind Ricky Gervais’ An Idiot Abroad.
