Officials warn Lake Conway residents of potential flooding threat

Residents around Lake Conway are asked to protect their property as water levels continue to rise because of flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Lake Conway, which is located near Mayflower.

According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the lake will "exceed the flood stage of 266 feet mean sea level (3 feet above normal pool" by June 5. The water at Lake Conway will continue to rise, but AGFC said the peak level is unknown.

You are asked to immediately take action to protect your property if you live around Lake Conway.

"Property that has flooded around Lake Conway in the last 10 years is at the greatest risk of flooding this week," AGFC said.

While the Arkansas River will crest this week in central Arkansas, Palarm Creek will continue to rise causing more water to flow into Lake Conway.

The AGFC said the lake's water level is rising by "one foot every 30 hours."
