LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas officials are tackling election integrity as they work together to calm fears and raise awareness of the systems in place to ensure a transparent and fair election.
Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin reminded Arkansans about his Election Integrity Unit, which was established in 2023. He said the unit offers a platform to report suspicious activity through a hotline.
The Election Integrity Unit also plays a huge role in addressing any social media allegations, which Griffin said is now more important than ever so they can investigate and get to the bottom of the allegation.
"We certainly want to know about allegations of wrongdoing, but we also want people to know that we've got a great track record here in Arkansas when it comes to our elections and investigating potential wrongdoing," Griffin said.
People can contact the Election Integrity Unit hotline at (833) 995-8683.
Saline County Communications Director Trevor Villines said the effort to gain the community's trust goes beyond the state level. They're also taking action on the local level by disclosing full transparency.
"We started to live stream our election night process where anybody could go in and video watch all the ballots coming in," Villines said.
According to Villines, they have a couple of cameras set up where community members can see the ballots coming into the election center.
All these moves are being made with the voter in mind, ensuring people can carry out their civic peacefully.
"It is safe and secure," Villines said. "We just want to make voting as simple as possible, a breeze for our citizens."
