LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Pulaski County Clerk Terri Hollingsworth sent a press release Friday night regarding an error that impacted some voters in the 2024 elections.
The clerk's office received a call from a voter on Oct. 23 that their ballot didn't have a race on it. Officials at the officer would then discover than an employee "made a street file change" that gave voters on that street a different ballot.
Employees within the clerk's office reportedly resolved the issue "without further complications" and that the employee was "immediately removed from election duties" and is no longer employed.
"As the official voter registrar of more than 230,000 registered voters, my office strives to ensure a fair and efficient voting experience," said Terri Hollingsworth in a press release. "We also recognize that errors can and do occur, and it is critically important to correct them immediately."
The change may have impacted up to 132 voters, but the clerk's office said at least four voters received an incorrect ballot. "Fortunately, the overall outcome of the election was not compromised."
The clerk's office then notified the Pulaski County Election Commission about the incident and will ask the Secretary of State's office for assistance to provide a "supervisorial clearance or authorization" of the election systems before employees can get to specific features.
"The Clerk’s Office remains fully committed to protecting the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring the trust of you, the voters," the clerk said.
