LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Although the congressional races in Arkansas haven't been the focal point of the 2022 elections, voters came out to decide who will represent the state in the United States Congress.
Incumbent U.S. Senator John Boozman (R) was re-elected, beating out Natalie James (D) and Kenneth Cates (L), according to the Associated Press.
Boozman will be entering his third term as Senator for Arkansas after he beat Democrat Blanch Lincoln in the 2010 elections. Boozman has secured at least 57% of the votes in each election.
Nationwide, Republicans are hoping to regain the House and Senate in an effort to stifle the Biden administration.
Boozman is expected to chair the powerful Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee if Republicans take control of the Senate, according to the Associated Press.
Many of the Republicans have been running on a platform that criticizes the administration's efforts in reducing violent crime and the economic woes.
Experts are expecting the Democrats to lose control of the House, but the Senate is still considered a toss-up.
