LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Rick Crawford, who represents the first congressional district of Arkansas, has endorsed Donald Trump as the Republican nomination in the 2024 elections.
Crawford made the announcement Monday, calling it his "continued endorsement" of Trump, who lost to President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections.
The congressman was the only Arkansas representative to object to Biden's win a day after a violent riot broke out at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
In his endorsement of Trump, Crawford said the Biden administration has been a "complete disaster" and claimed that illegal immigration "slowed" under Trump. The former president has promised if he is elected in 2024 to end birthright citizenship and conduct mass deportations, even saying immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country."
"[Trump] also reduced insulin prices, defended our domestic steel industry, and worked to end one-sided trade deals that had left American farmers and businesses at a disadvantage," Crawford claimed.
Trump is currently facing state and federal criminal charges, which includes an indictment related to attempting to over the 2020 election. Although he is facing at least four indictments, the U.S. Supreme Court will rule whether he is eligible to be on the ballot.
In the race for the Republican nomination, Trump holds a commanding lead in the polls over Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Asa Hutchinson.
