SHERWOOD, Ark. — A Sherwood bar is getting in on a viral Facebook event that has millions of people RSVPing to storm Area 51 in September.
Just off Highway 67/167 in Sherwood, you will find Area 51. But this place isn't secret government property; it is just a neighborhood bar.
"People punch in area 51 and we show up,” Billy Marfoglio said.
Area 51 owner Billy Marfoglio said his bar has recently gotten a little more attention, thanks to a viral Facebook event called "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us."
The fake event that claims to take place September 20 is an attempt to find aliens hidden by the government. It has since caught the attention of almost 3 million Facebook users.
"I'm a conspiracy theorist. That's just one of the conspiracy theories,” Marfoglio said.
Marfoglio said because of the name of his bar, he has to throw his own party in September.
"The manager, Jason Barrow, is actually fielding a lot of phone calls and things because of Area 51, so he's having to talk to people about the whole thing,” he said.
Manager Jason Barrow said the Storm Area 51 party will include live music.
"We have Tragically White playing, who is a band that's been playing for about 25 years,” Barrow said.
So, if you cannot make it to Nevada on September 20, this Sherwood Bar will help fulfill all your alien needs.
“There's aliens hidden all across the room,” Barrow said. "Restricted areas also, just like Area 51. So, don't go in areas you're not supposed to be."
The Area 51 Bar party will take place September 20.
Now, people who live near Area 51 in Nevada say they are actually preparing for an influx of visitors in September. But the U.S. Air Force has warned against visiting the secretive base, saying "any attempt to illegally access the area is highly discouraged."
