As the Arkansas River flooding starts to recede in some areas, many may not know what to do with used and unused sandbags.
If your sandbags touched flood water, it can NOT be reused. Contact your city officials to find places collecting used and unused sandbags in your area.
The best way to reuse the sandbags is by cutting them open and using the sand in low spots in your yard, under pools, or in paths to level them out.
If you have unused sandbags you can also store them for later use.
Dardanelle residents can sit their sandbags near the side of the road, and city crews will pick them up.
If floodwater has touched any of your sandbags, do not handle them.
