LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas native and former Razorback Marquesha Davis took home her first WNBA title after the New York Liberty defeated the Minnesota Lynx in dramatic fashion on Sunday -- taking down the Lynx in overtime to clench the title in a winner-take-all game 5.
This is the first title in franchise history for the New York Liberty, who won Sunday night 67-62. The group is now looking ahead at the possibility for back-to-back championships.
One of the members of this year's championship team was rookie Marquesha Davis, who was born in McGehee Arkansas and graduated from Springdale High School.
She was drafted by the Liberty with the 11th pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft after spending her collegiate career at Arkansas and Ole Miss.
Following the Liberty's victory, Davis has become the first woman from Arkansas to win a title in the WNBA.
