FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — After their third Sweet 16 run in a row, the Arkansas men's basketball team is back in action officially.
Arkansas started play with exhibition wins over UT Tyler and Purdue in October, but the action that counted started on Monday night in Fayetteville.
At Bud Walton Arena, the Razorbacks dominated the Alcorn State Braves in a 93-59 victory.
The Hogs have now won 48 of their 50 season openers.
They started with a Trevon Brazile dunk, a glimmer of hope after he suffered a season-ending ACL tear last season. Arkansas led the entire time and at halftime, the Razorbacks led 46-22.
Brazile added 13 points and six rebounds on Monday night.
There are nine new players on this season's roster and many players did not disappoint. A total of 12 Razorbacks put up points against the Braves.
Tramon Mark, a University of Houston transfer, added 16 points. Meanwhile, Temple transfer Khalif Battle, led the Hogs with 21 points off the bench. He also went 5-of-9 shooting.
"We knew it was going to be a great student section, which it was. How do we get the students back for Friday and Monday's games? You've got to do it by taking care of business and playing the right way, I thought we did all those things. I told the team before the game someone is getting beat tonight across the country. You have to have respect for who you play every night." Head Coach Eric Musselman said.
Up next the Hogs will host Gardner-Webb on Friday, the game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
