COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Hudson White hit a three-run home run, Gage Wood struck out five and No. 2 Arkansas clinched the SEC West with a 6-3 victory over No. 5 Texas A&M on Friday at Blue Bell Park in College Station, Texas.
It's Arkansas's fifth division title in the past six seasons.
White's fifth home run of the year came in a crucial spot in the eighth inning. Tied 3-3, the junior catcher went to the plate and launched a hanging slider 404 feet over the left field fence to give the Razorbacks a 6-3 lead.
Arkansas collected 11 hits compared to Texas A&M's 7. Shortstop Wehiwa Aloy and first baseman Ben McLaughlin each had two hits with one RBI, while outfielder Peyton Holt's lone hit was an RBI single to left field.
Aloy smacked a game-tying solo home run in the third inning, which evened the score at 2-2.
Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn gave pitcher Gage Wood the starting nod on the mound, and the sophomore settled in after allowing two runs in the opening frame.
Wood tossed five innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and zero walks. Left-handed pitcher Mason Molina (4-2) secured the victory for the Hogs, fanning two Aggies in three shutout innings of relief.
The Razorbacks wrap up their series against Texas A&M on Saturday. Coverage from Blue Bell Park begins at 2 p.m. Central on the SEC Network.
Arkansas clinched a bye and will be a top-four seed at the SEC Tournament next week in Hoover, Ala.
