FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas defensive lineman Landon Jackson continues to rack up preseason honors ahead of the 2024 season, the latest being a Preseason Coaches' First-Team All-SEC nod in a vote by the league's 16 head coaches on Wednesday.
Jackson, who is entering his senior season, is also a Walter Camp Football Foundation Preseason All-American and a preseason All-SEC selection by numerous outlets.
Additionally, he is on the watch list for three national awards: The Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List and the Lombardi Award Watch List.
A native of Texarkana, Texas, Jackson anchored the Razorbacks' defense in 2023, totaling 44 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and one pass breakup. He had a breakout performance in a loss at Alabama, where he registered career-highs in tackles (11), tackles for loss (3.5) and sacks (3.5) to claim SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week and Bednarik Award Player of the Week honors.
The 3.5 sacks were the most by an SEC player in a single game last season and tied for the fifth-most in a single game nationally.
Jackson's productive junior campaign helped him become the first Arkansas defensive lineman to earn first-team All-SEC recognition since Jake Bequette in 2011.
The Razorbacks open the 2024 season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Aug. 29. Coverage from War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock begins at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
