FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — Arkansas baseball is continuing the good vibes of opening weekend taking down James Madison, 15-5, in eight innings in game two of the series.
After a pitching duel early in the game, the Hogs bats got things going in the third with a solo home run from outfielder Ty Wilmsmeyer.
The Dukes would get on the board the next frame after a bases loaded walk to tie the game. Freshman catcher Ryder Helfrick would quickly get the Hogs back in front with a solo home run to left field.
Going into the sixth inning with Arkansas up 7-1, James Madison plated four runs to cut the lead to two. However, Arkansas answered in the bottom of the inning with six runs of their own to make it harder for JMU to catch up.
Brady Tygart went five innings allowing one run on two hits and punched out four. Koty Frank got the save going two and a third hitless innings with one strikeout.
Wilsmeyer had a career day going 3-for-5 at the plate including a career-high five RBIs.
The four game series continues Sunday with junior southpaw Mason Molina on the mound making his Razorback debut. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
