FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — As we reach the late stage of November, that means Senior Day is upon us in college football. From Landon Jackson and Andrew Armstrong to Eric Gregory and Hudson Clark, the Hogs will look to honor all of their seniors on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Hogs hope to bring those seniors one last win at Razorback Stadium as they take on the 4-6 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are currently 5th in the Conference USA standings.
Louisiana Tech is a team that relies heavily on its defense. The Bulldogs' defense is 13th in the country in yards allowed per game with 314 YPG and 28th in points allowed with just 21.6. That defense is led by two linebackers Kolbe Fields, who has 67 total tackles on the year, and Zach Zimos, who has another 54 tackles. Those two and a strong defensive line have helped LA Tech become the 17th-best rush defense in the nation, giving up 3.2 yards per rush.
As for the offense, they have struggled a lot more this season. The Bulldogs' offense is 101st overall in total scoring at just 21.6 points per game.
Yes, you are reading that correctly. The Bulldogs offense is scoring the same as the Bulldogs defense is allowing.
The run game for LA Tech is especially poor, averaging 3 yards per rush, which is 130th in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Their QB Evan Bullock has thrown for 1,518 yards this season and 12 touchdowns, which isn't near the top of college football. However, he has been smart with the football this year by only throwing two interceptions.
LA Tech is coming off a big 12-7 road win against then-7-2 Western Kentucky. They were undefeated in the Conference USA up until that game, giving the Bulldogs some momentum coming into Fayetteville. The Bulldogs have only played one other Power 4 team this season, NC State. The Bulldogs lost by only 10 points against the Wolfpack.
While many people have already chalked up the Razorback-Bulldogs matchup as a win, LA Tech will come into this game Saturday believing they have a chance.
The Hogs are currently on a two-game losing streak, falling to Ole Miss and Texas both at home over their last two contests. That puts them at 5-5 on the season with two games left in the year. They only need one more win to gain bowl eligibility. The game against LA Tech is the more likely win of the two as the other is on the road against Missouri for the Battle Line Rivalry.
The Hogs will go for that bowl eligibility and say goodbye to many seniors on Saturday in Fayetteville at 3 p.m. The game will be airing on SEC Network +.
