NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (THV11) - On a Friday afternoon with temperatures reaching triple digits, most teenagers are inside avoiding the heat at all costs. Sydney Parr is not most teenagers.
Most days you can find her at D-I training facility in West Little Rock, and today is no exception. "Get some conditioning work in, medicine ball, and come here to put the strength part in the afternoon."
Now this routine may seem a bit excessive, but Parr has always gone above and beyond. One of the many reasons the Arkansas Razorbacks offered her a scholarship her Freshman year. "The support the fans, there has been way more than in the past. The girls have done a great job of marketing and getting the program out there. You know getting the brand of Razorback softball out there and changing people’s thoughts."
Despite the buzz with new head coach Courtney Deifel, the Hogs finished with just one SEC win last season. But that’s not on Parr with Sydney’s expectations who won three state titles with North Little Rock, on the field she’ll call home this fall. "There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to switch schools and re-open my recruiting process. I was always 100% going to go to Fayetteville."
Now the only question that remains, will she ever take a day of rest? "I do. I take some off-days. There’s always a need to have some balance in your life."
