WASHINGTON — American Ryan Crouser made history in the shot put final, winning his third title at the Olympic Games

Crouser, who has been dealing with an elbow injury this year, earned a gold medal on Saturday.

It was a long journey for the athlete who was aiming for a three-peat at the Summer Games. Aside from an elbow injury, the Crouser had also torn his pectoral muscle earlier this year.

Crouser is also the world record holder in the shot put.

Fellow Team USA athlete Joe Kovacs took home the silver for the third straight Olympic Games as well. Kovacs is a Pennsylvania native from Lehigh Valley.

How heavy is a shot put?
