USA Cycling to announce 2024 Olympics team in Bentonville

"Team USA's road to Paris runs through Bentonville, Arkansas," USA Cycling said ahead of the announcement.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Mountain biking teams for the upcoming 2024 Olympics are set to be announced in Bentonville next week.

USA Cycling, the national governing body for cycling, will announce the roster of the men's and women's mountain bike teams. The teams are set to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this summer.

The announcement will come Tuesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. on the sixth floor of the Ledger Bentonville at 240 S Main St.

In a release from Visit Bentonville and USA Cycling, the groups say "Team USA's road to Paris runs through Bentonville, Arkansas."

USA Cycling oversees road, track, mountain bike, cyclocross, grave, BMX, and esports.

The group's mission is to "grow participation and engagement with the sport of bicycle racing and achieve sustained international success across all cycling disciplines."

USA Cycling CEO Brendan Quirk will be hosting the event, and a video of the team members will be shown.

In 2022, USA Cycling named Bentonville the official home of the U.S. Mountain Bike National Team, expanding the city's spot as a hotspot for cycling in the U.S.

Since then, Northwest Arkansas has hosted numerous tournaments and events for cycling.

"The long-term investment from the city of Bentonville will help USA Cycling reach its goal of gold in the LA 2028 Olympic Games. USA Cycling has a membership of 80,000, sanctions over 2,500 events annually, and is a member of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC)," the release added.
