Good Samaritan rescues what they thought was a puppy

A good Samaritan brought the SPCA what they thought was a newborn puppy that they had found abandoned on a walking trail in Grand Island.

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. — It is that time of the year where baby animals begin to be born in the spring, and recently the Niagara SPCA had rescued at the time what they thought was a puppy.

But in a social media post made on Sunday, April 28 they wrote "Staff scratched their heads for only a moment when it dawned on them that this curious looking puppy could be a coyote pup. "Our friends at Wild Kritters confirmed the identity of this Wile E. little guy, and he was transferred to the rescue for care."

The newborn pup had been found by a good Samaritan on Grand Island while they were on a walking trail.

Continuing in their post the Niagara SPCA said, "We're not sure what spooked mom or made her drop this precious wee one in such a location, but thankfully our good Samaritan was there to save the day! A big thank you to the finder, and to Wild Kritters for always helping our sick, injured and orphaned wildlife!"
